Surrogacy is one of the methods of infertility treatment whereby a woman carries a pregnancy and gives birth to a baby for another woman. To create this baby the recipients’ sperm and eggs are used. Generally speaking surrogacy is an answer for women who aren’t able to gestate a pregnancy due to different reasons.
Before childless couples could complete their families only through adoption. Fortunately assisted reproductive technologies give more opportunities today. Even if a woman does not have uterus or she is medically contra-indicated to carry a pregnancy or to deliver, she still can have a child who is genetically related to her through the IVF program involving a surrogate.
There are to surrogacy options:
- Traditional Surrogacy
- Gestational Surrogacy
